Keep a human within reach
Make the handoff honest, asynchronous and testable.
Some shopping questions need a person: an unclear policy, a failed action, or an issue the assistant cannot resolve safely. Decide who receives those cases before publishing the assistant.
Explain the next step
Tell the shopper which contact channel will be used and why you need it. Do not promise a human reply in the chat unless that channel is actually implemented and tested. The intended initial handoff is asynchronous.
Verify delivery
Configure the notification destination supported by your release. Send a controlled test escalation and confirm receipt with the responsible person. A ticket appearing in an inbox or a job being queued is not proof that a notification arrived.
Review what happens when delivery fails and who notices. Avoid copying unnecessary personal data into notification messages.
Close the loop
Follow up through the agreed channel. Set response expectations your team can meet; this guide makes no response-time guarantee. Recheck the flow after changes to email or connected Google Chat configuration.
